God and Government: 2. Capitol

The impressive, even imposing stature of a Capitol building signifies the power and authority of a nation. But from God’s point of view, He is the One who rules over the governments of men.

WATCH today as Asher stands in front of the US Capitol in Washington, DC, and reminds us from the book of Daniel that God is the One in control.

We can miss this in one of two ways:

  1. Pride - not believing in the God who is the Supreme Ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth.

  2. Unbelief - not believing God is really powerful enough to move in the government of our nation, that the problems in our nation are too big for Him to handle.

God is Sovereign and can take people out of government and even put people in place within the government who are supposed to be there. We need to stay in faith and not give in to rebellion against, or complaining about, those who are serving in government positions.

Our job is to PRAY for those who are in authority and believe that God will either direct their steps or remove them if necessary. Pray for righteousness and justice; for wisdom for those in leadership; for God’s will to be done. We don’t put our trust in governments, we put our trust in HIM. He really is in control.
