There is coming a day in which the ultimate clash of good and evil will focus solely on Israel. And this time, unlike the first century, God is going to reveal His glory and defeat the nations that come against Jerusalem. Zechariah 12 says that in that battle the weakest among them in Israel will be like David in their prime and they will go out and fight those nations. When it looks like all is lost, the Lord will intervene in the battle and fight for them. When Israel sees this defeat they will look to the one whom they have pierced (Zech 12) and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son.
Israel is an instrument of God’s sovereignty over the nations. The Church has a role to play in these events. Through the intercession and witness of the Church to the Jewish people, Israel will be prepared to receive their Messiah.

The Day of the Lord is near
The Lord will roar from Zion
Heaven and earth will shudder
Jerusalem will be holy
The mountains will drip with sweet wine
