The Feasts of the Lord are filled with meaning: past, present and future. This week we are celebrating Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles. For seven days our people dwell in booths to remember that God led us (and a mixed multitude) out of Egypt, through the wilderness, and into the Promised Land.
Zechariah 14 tells us that there is a future fulfillment during the Millennial Messianic kingdom when all the nations will come up each year to Jerusalem to keep the Feast and worship the King.
But what is the present day meaning of this celebration?
In today’s global broadcast, Asher reiterates God’s plan from the beginning—to dwell with His people—a perfect people in a perfect world. Through the sacrifice of Yeshua, we have now been “called out” of the “kosmos” of this world to become His Ekklesia, His dwelling place.
God's Spirit rests in us as His tabernacle, both in local congregations and as the global community of faith. We are a giant tent stretching over the whole world.
This special group of people from every nation and tribe are God's own "treasure" on the earth. We are learning what it means to rule and reign with Him. We rule with Him in this lifetime through righteous, spiritual influence. In the world to come, the Ekklesia becomes God's executive governing body.
Let's be a giant tabernacle for the Spirit of the Lord to dwell inside of us. This is our present day, global Feast of Tabernacles. We have big tents and little tents. But it is all to give a resting place for the presence of the Lord inside of us.
